P2P Chat

Connect. Relay. Chat.

Private messaging with no internet, no mobile data and no server. P2P Chat turns nearby Android phones into a Bluetooth mesh — your message hops from phone to phone until it reaches the person it is meant for, end-to-end encrypted the whole way.

How the mesh works

Bluetooth alone does not relay messages — P2P Chat implements genuine multi-hop forwarding. When A and D are too far apart for a direct link, phones in between carry the encrypted envelope forward. Relays can pass a message along, but they can never read it.

A sends → B relays → C relays → D receives → D's signed acknowledgement travels back — and only then does A's message show Delivered. No false ticks, ever.

Built for the moments networks fail

Remote villages, disaster zones, crowded festivals, campuses, basements and borders — anywhere coverage dies or is watched, P2P Chat keeps people talking.

● True multi-hop relay

Store-and-forward routing with hop limits, duplicate suppression and loop protection. Undelivered messages wait safely in a persistent queue until a route appears.

● End-to-end encrypted

Ed25519 identities with X25519 key exchange and AES-256-GCM encryption. Every envelope is digitally signed; relays see ciphertext only.

● Honest delivery states

Queued, Relayed and Delivered mean exactly what they say. Delivered appears only when the recipient's signed acknowledgement returns to your phone.

● Groups & broadcast

Create mesh group chats, broadcast to everyone nearby, and share your contact with a QR code — all without any server.

● Background relay

A battery-aware foreground service keeps your phone relaying for others with duty-cycled Bluetooth scanning. You stay in control from settings.

● Your keys stay yours

Identity keys are generated on your phone and stored encrypted in the Android Keystore. No cloud copy, no company in the middle, nothing to leak.

Security, honestly explained

P2P Chat uses reviewed, standard cryptography — no home-made ciphers. Every message is encrypted for its recipient and signed by its sender, with replay protection and per-peer rate limiting against spam. Safety numbers (QR fingerprints) let you verify a contact in person. Honest note: chat history lives only on your phone — if you lose the phone, the identity cannot be recovered, because nobody else ever had it.

Frequently asked questions

Does P2P Chat really work without any internet?

Yes. Phones discover each other over Bluetooth Low Energy and pass encrypted messages hand to hand. No Wi-Fi, mobile data, SIM or server is involved at any point.

How far can a message travel?

Each Bluetooth hop reaches roughly 10–30 metres indoors and more in open space. With relaying, a message can cross up to 7 phones — a whole building, market or street.

Can relay phones read my messages?

No. A relay only forwards an encrypted, signed envelope. Only the intended recipient's phone holds the key that can open it.

Why does Android ask for location or nearby-devices permission?

Android requires that permission for Bluetooth scanning — P2P Chat uses it only to find nearby phones. The app has no internet permission use for messaging and sends nothing anywhere.

Is it on the Play Store?

Not yet — this v1.0.0 test build is distributed directly as an APK from this page.
